Monday Evening

We drove through heavy rain on the freeway but as we neared Holmes County, the rains stopped. Only rain soaked fields, puddles stretching across the road in places and detours due to bridges being flooded. As we drove down 515 through Goose Bottom Valley, we could see the Carlisle Inn gracefully stretching out atop the gently sloping ridge that leads into Walnut Creek. As we approached up the steep incline, lights began to twinkle on. Reminding us of the first time we discovered the beauty of the Carlisle Inn nearly 10 years ago.

Walking through the front entrance is always like coming home. The smell of fresh popcorn greeted us, as well as coffee and cookies in the lobby every night from 6 till 9. Coffee is always on, up in the Wicker Lounge 24 hours a day. I think it is the best coffee I have ever had, but it could have something to do with the setting. The Wicker Lounge is twice the size it was the last time we were here.
